Memorial plaque dedication set for Nov. 10
TIFFIN, OHIO – Nov. 7, 2019 – The City of Tiffin and Seneca County Board of Commissioners are hosting a special ceremony to honor veteran, former sheriff and former city council member Jim Roberts.
Roberts passed away Sept. 13 at the age of 83.
The event is to include the unveiling of a memorial plaque in Roberts’ honor and is to occur at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at the gazebo on Frost Parkway.
A prayer will be led by personnel from A Little Faith Ministries, patriotic music will be played by the Tiffin Columbian band and remarks will be delivered by city and county leaders and local veterans.
The Seneca County United Veterans Council, of which Roberts was a member, will be in attendance.
Roberts served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961, where he was stationed in Japan as an Interpreter. He attended Heidelberg College, was a Seneca County Sheriff from 1969-1979, and was at the time of his death a Tiffin City Councilman and Council President Pro tempore, representing the First Ward since 2012. Roberts was elected to Seneca County Republican Party Central Committee and Executive Committee, was named Citizen of the Year, Veteran of the Year and taught Criminal Justice at Tiffin University for a few years. He also worked at Findlex and later Nissin Brake in Findlay for over 20 years as a Safety Inspector.
