There are shelters at the following parks: Applejack (small shelter), Hedges-Boyer Park, Highland Park, Junior Home Park, Nature Trails Park (small shelter), Oakley Park and Riverview Park (small shelter). Shelters are available on a first come, first use basis with the exception being the shelters and barn at Hedges-Boyer Park.
The picnic shelters and the park barn at Hedges-Boyer can be reserved when not in use for a public event by the Tiffin Parks and Recreation Department. Persons or parties with Proof of Registration receive priority use. Picnic Shelters at Hedges-Boyer Park include: the American Legion Shelter, AMVETS Shelter, Lions Shelter, Moose Shelter, Shelter Three, and Shelter Six. The historic Barn at Hedges-Boyer Park is available for your event needs. This is a rustic facility although electric, water, a sink and countertop space are available. A large cement patio is behind the barn for additional seating. 20 eight foot picnic tables are located in the barn with additional room on the patio. Most shelters have 8-10 picnic tables in them that seat approximately 6-8 people per table. Grills are also available at all Hedges Boyer Park shelters and the barn.
The Hedges Boyer Park Shelter Barn is located directly behind the Tiffin City Swimming Pool and provides enough room for approximately 150 people with 20 picnic tables located inside the barn area and out on the back patio. A sink with running water is provided along with 200 amp electrical service. Two grills are also provided. The barn is an excellent choice for an enclosed area suitable to handle large family reunions, graduation parties, and company picnics. The Lions basketball court, the sand volleyball and the outdoor pool are within short walking distance.
The American Legion Shelter is located just south of the Clive Lupton Bridge and is close to the Tiffin D League Baseball Field, walking trails and the Playground Area. A large parking lot provides plenty of parking. 8 to 10 picnic tables are provided along with a grill.
The AMVETS Shelter is located just across from the Tiffin YMCA and just on the north sider of the Clive Lupton Bridge and is close to the front softball field (Roger Young Field), and walking trails. A medium sized parking area out front provides parking as does a stone parking area just to the west of the shelter. Eight to ten picnic tables are provided along with a grill.
The Lions Shelter is located in the lower area of the park close to the Living Legacy Tree area which is also near the Roger Young and Charles Dedrick softball fields. It’s the smallest of all the shelters with 6 picnic tables and a grill. There is a medium stone parking lot for parking.
The Moose Shelter is located on the corner as you enter into the oval of Hedges Boyer Park. It’s close to the walking trail, the D League (Jocko Huffman) Baseball Diamond and has a large parking area for plenty of parking. The shelter has 8-10 picnic tables and a grill.
Shelter 3 is located right next to the Tiffin City Pool and restrooms. 8-10 picnic tables are provided along with a grill. This shelter is also very close to playground area, ball diamond, walking trails and sand volleyball courts. Plenty of space to spread out.
Shelter 6 is located in the lower area of Hedges Boyer Park towards the back just west the Lions Shelter. It’s our largest shelter besides the shelter barn. It’s close to the Charles Dedrick Field. It has a large stone parking area to allow for adequete parking. The shelter has 8-10 picnic tables along with a grill.
