Individuals or groups, including the Downtown Tiffin Main Street Committees, wishing to conduct events (with the exception of parades) on City of Tiffin property must obtain an event permit by making application to the City Administrator (Chapter 903.06, Codified Ordinances of Tiffin Ohio). Permit applications are required to be submitted no fewer than 45 days prior to the event.
Permits for parades or processions (other than a funeral procession) can be obtained from the Tiffin Police Department.
Permits to use a city-owned street, boulevard, or right-of-way are handled by the City of Tiffin Public Works Department.
Mobile Food Vendors (Food Trucks) must obtain a license and apply for a permit to utilize any of the City’s designated Mobile Food Vendor locations. For questions, call Tiffin City Hall at (419) 448-5401.
The City of Tiffin Engineering Department oversees permitting as it pertains to zoning within the City of Tiffin. All building permits will need to be obtained from the Richland County Building Department and/or the Erie County General Health District.
Before starting work in the City of Tiffin, contractors are to register with the City Administrator via an online form (paper forms are available upon request). There is a $25 fee to register, and registration should be renewed annually to perform work in the City of Tiffin. (There are no fees for renewing a registration unless a contractor fails to renew their registration by Jan. 31 of the following year.)
