Term runs through end of 2023
TIFFIN, Ohio – June 19, 2023 – During the Tiffin City Council meeting Monday evening, Chris Monsour was sworn in as the new Councilmember for the 1st Ward. He is filling the vacant seat of former councilmember Steve Lepard. Monsour has served as an educator for the past 24 years at varying levels of learning at Findlay and Heidelberg Universities, Terra State Community College, Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and Tiffin City Schools. His areas of instruction include biology, evolution, microbiology, and anatomy. His talents have extended outside the city as well, serving as a Teacher at Sea for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association, and Instructor of English as a Second Language at Tianjin Normal University People’s Republic of China.
Monsour stated “I am looking forward to serving on city council and I would like to thank the central committee for allowing me this opportunity to serve the 1st Ward and the rest of the Tiffin community.”
Tiffin Mayor Dawn Iannantuono said “Mr. Monsour has been a pillar in the educational community of Tiffin for many years. We are glad to welcome him to council and look forward to having him continue to serve our city in a new way.”
Lepard served as the Councilmember for the 1st Ward from 2002-2011, and Councilmember at Large from 2014-2021, and again represented the 1st Ward from 2022-2023. Monsour was appointed by members of the Seneca County Republican Central Committee on June 7 for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends in Dec. 31, 2023.
