TIFFIN, Ohio – Oct. 27, 2023 – Effective Jan. 1, 2024, the City of Tiffin has instituted an ordinance requiring general contractors to register with the city. This process has been established to insure that the City collects all income taxes due under city law and allows City Administration to maintain a list of contractors in the event a citizen has a complaint regarding work performed.
Before starting work in the City of Tiffin, contractors are to register with the City Administrator via an online form located on the City of Tiffin website, www.tiffinohio.gov (paper forms are available upon request). There is a $25 fee to register, and must be renewed each year (there is no fee if a license is renewed by Jan. 31 of the following year). Checks may be submitted in person in the City Administrator’s office, or mailed to 51 E. Market Street, Tiffin, OH 44883, attention City Administrator. Online payment options will be available in the future.
A contractor includes a person, firm, corporation, limited liability company, or other entity that performs work to maintain, repair, remodel, construct, demolish, alter, or otherwise improve any land, building, or other structure for hire within the City of Tiffin. Registration is required only for those 18 and older.
