The Ohio Division of Forestry recently approved the City of Tiffin’s grant request for $15,000 to improve the City’s urban forest over the next year and a half. This news comes on the heels of a $50,000 grant to Tiffin for similar improvements through Inflation Reduction Act funds.
The most recent grant, administered on behalf of the US EPA’s Urban Waters Federal Partnership (UWFP) for the Western Lake Erie Basin, supports forestry activities that will positively impact Lake Erie.
The City will use these $15,000 to help pay for its urban forest inventory (currently underway), plus its 2025 tree plantings focused on neighborhoods adjacent to the Sandusky River. These two efforts will enlist proper planning and planting of trees to support both City and UWFP stormwater management goals.
