Following the resignation of At-Large Councilmember John Kahler, Tiffin City Council has established a process for filling a vacancy.
Any elector of the City of Tiffin, having lived in Tiffin for no less than one year, may submit their self nomination with a letter of interest and resume to City Administrator Nick Dutro by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 5. Letters may be emailed to [email protected] or be delivered to Tiffin City Hall, 51 E. Market St., Tiffin, but must arrive before the deadline to be considered.
All letters will be submitted to City Council members for review after the deadline has passed and candidates will be announced publicly.
Council is to have a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 10 to review and interview nominations in Council Chambers at Tiffin City Hall, with intentions to vote on the candidates. Candidates for Council are required to attend the Feb. 10 meeting. By the rules established, if a majority candidate is not chosen within five voting rounds, Council will continue the voting process at its regularly scheduled meeting on Feb. 18.
