We love our pets, and that means we need to make sure to be responsible for our pets.

Cleaning up pet waste isn’t just the law (Tiffin Codified Ordinances 505.08), it’s also vitally important in helping to prevent contamination of our water sources. Studies show that in some samples, nearly 20 percent of the bacteria found in water samples were matched with dogs as the host animals.

As well as making drinking water unsafe, unattended pet waste can attract pests and may carry disease causing bacteria, which could be pose risks if left where children play or in public space, and can be harmful to lawns.

Remember that when walking with your pets to bring a bag or use one of the many bag stations found in Tiffin parks, and always dispose of your pet waste either with the trash or in a toilet.
