First open skate planned at Tiffin skating rink

TIFFIN, Ohio – Oct. 31, 2024 – Tiffin Mayor Lee W. Wilkinson and his wife Susan will be sponsoring the first Open Skate of the season from 5-9 p.m. Dec. 13, 2024, at The Sutton Bank Charitable Fund of Tiffin Community Foundation Rink at Oakley Park, 175 Grand Ave. This will allow all residents to come out and enjoy the iceless skating rink free of charge.

“We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy some “ice” time and engage with your neighbors,” Mayor Wilkinson stated.  “This rink is for the community and it will take community volunteers to be successful.”

How can your organization or business get involved?

  • Sponsor an Open Skate:  Businesses, organizations and non-profit groups can sponsor an open skate in four-hour blocks. This sponsorship will allow the community to skate for free for the duration of the time your business or organization chooses. You can also volunteer during the time slot allowing your group to be engaged in the community. The cost to sponsor an Open Skate is $500. Your sponsored open skate will be publicly announced, letting City of Tiffin residents know that you have chosen to sponsor a free skate.
  • Donate your time: Businesses, non-profit groups, organizations and families can sign up to volunteer for a four-hour block to assist in the skating rink and the Christmas Village where hot chocolate, s’mores kits, and fire pits for roasting marshmallows will be available. Half of the proceeds made during that time can be donated to your non-profit or a non-profit of your choosing!
  • Private Rental: The Sutton Bank Charitable Fund of Tiffin Community Foundation rink at Oakley Park is available for private rental. The cost to rent the rink is $150 for a four hour block available 5-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

This community funded project needs community support to ensure the seamless operation of this wonderful addition to the activities Tiffin has to offer.
