Beginning Monday, Sept. 23, sewers will be smoke tested in the highlighted area on the map. Smoke testing will be conducted for up to 2 weeks. This work is being done on behalf of the City of Tiffin Engineering Department by American Structurepoint, Inc. All workers can be identified by their American Structurepoint, Inc. or C&K logos on their safety vests.

There are no parking restrictions planned, however there may be some intermittent lane closures.

As part of this evaluation, nontoxic smoke will be forced into the sewer system. Private property connections (specifically down- spouts, cisterns, and drains) to the public sewer will be detected by the visible presence of smoke.

The smoke is nontoxic and nonhazardous and is manufactured specifically for this purpose. It leaves no residuals or stains and has no effects on plants or animals. The smoke should not enter your home, but if it does, it will have a distinct odor and should only last a few minutes with proper ventilation. This is the second round of smoke testing planned. During this round, drones are to be used to help detect smoke, and may be flying overhead.

Instructions:

• All plumbing fixtures drain traps should be filled with water prior to smoke testing.
• This is accomplished by running the water in all fixtures (sinks, tubs & showers) for at least 60 seconds.
• Please fill traps once every two weeks for the duration of the testing period (August-October.)
