The City of Tiffin is announcing an ambitious project to redevelop Court Street with new streetscaping, lights and expanded sidewalks. The project is being supported through contributions from local charitable funds and a state grant.

“This project will create a vibrant and inviting connection between Washington Street and Jefferson Street,” said Mayor Lee Wilkinson. “It will also improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians, while adding to the charm of our downtown.”

The project is being supported with $50,000 from the State of Ohio’s One Time Strategic Community Investment Funds program as well as $75,000 each in gifts from the National Machinery Foundation and Meshech Frost Charitable Trust.

“I want to thank the boards of the National Machinery Foundation and Meshech Frost for their generous support of this project,” Wilkinson said.

With the Tiffin Community Kitchen project nearly completed and the substantial private investments that have made National Corner and the East Green Amphitheater a prime destination, the redevelopment of Court Street has long been listed as a priority project by the Downtown Tiffin Design Committee. The Tiffin-Seneca Economic Partnership helped to bring in the funds through the State Capital Budget. The Tiffin Engineering Department designed the project and has been instrumental in securing funds for the project.

“I was proud of the success we had in redeveloping Cherry Alley in 2018, and I’m excited for our department to be involved with this project on Court Street. It's another step toward the continued progress of the revitalization of Downtown Tiffin,” said City Engineer Matt Watson.

This project is slated to begin construction this summer.
