The Architectural Board of Review is a seven-member panel appointed by the Mayor to determine the appropriateness of any alternations to changes to structures in the Downtown Design Review District, including the Downtown Historic District recorded by the Ohio Historic Preservation Office.
Any construction, reconstruction, alteration, or demolition project that falls within that area may be subject to review by the Architectural Board of Review.
The board makes its determinations based on the Downtown Design Review District Guidelines, a three-section guidebook to navigate the building design, renovation and construction process for any project located within the Downtown Design Review District.
Downtown Façade Enhancement Program
The Façade Enhancement Program is a City of Tiffin reimbursement grant that was started in 2014 and provides a 50 percent match of funds for eligible exterior improvements on residential and commercial structures within the downtown historic district, up to $10,000. Each building is eligible to receive up to $10,000 per calendar year. The Architectural Board of Review approves the grants.
